UNAM-LA Panel on Mexican Election 2012

Happy August everyone! With a new month comes tons of new happenings for AWSC Around the World! And one particular event that we recommend putting on your radar is this week’s UNAM Los Angeles Summit discussing the results of Mexico’s Presidential election.

Just like the previous conferences, you can expect some fantastic intellectual conversations and several high-profile speakers. The new UNAM session will take place at the  Mexican General Consulate this Friday at 6pm and feature noted scholar Dr. Leonardo Curzio. A PhD holder from the University of Valencia, Dr. Curzio is extremely well-versed in Latin American politics and promises to provide some fascinating analysis on Mexico’s newly elected leader Enrique Peña Nieto. Joining Dr. Curzio will be Dr. Ciro Murayama. A seasoned economist (and fellow PhD holder), Dr. Murayama plans to shed light on the Mexican Congress and the process that put Peña Nieto in power.

No matter what your political leanings are, this seminar is a must and offers the type of electoral education you certainly can’t get from the TV news. And for all you non-Spanish speakers, translators will be present to make sure you hear the message too.
