Brian Doherty | Community Manager | AICP | New York, NY
Brian has been communicating with people online longer than you have. Having lost his hearing at the age of 10, he discovered that early bulletin board forums, IM’s, emails and AOL chat rooms were far more effective communication tools than any stupid old telephone ever would be.
Brian remembers when text messaging was a new phenomenon and each of his friends required training and/or threats to start sending them to him rather than picking up the phone to call. He derisively recalls the “What are you, a tween girl?” and “Why would I ever want to get email on my phone?” taunts when he started using a first-generation T-Mobile Sidekick (because it had a full QWERTY keyboard).
Most of all, Brian likes to be right about everything. That’s why he sees the social media boom as a validation of his long-held belief that there’s nowhere better to communicate and get one’s message across than online.
When he’s not long-distance running, walking his beloved Chihuahua, absorbing information on the web, eating his face off, or laughing with his boyfriend…Brian can be found working as the Community Manager for the AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers).

Welcome to the blog, Brian, I look forward to reading your stuff. What were you doing with Lisa Lampanelli in this photo? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lisa_Lampanelli_Brian_Doherty_2011_Shankbone.JPG
Hi Charlie: Thanks for the welcome. That photo was taken at a release party for Michael Musto's latest book. Lisa was performing/supporting Michael, and I was there for fun.
