Doug Zanger | Creative Bohemian | Portland, OR

Doug Zanger is a creative bohemian from Portland, Oregon, the guy behind the Advertising Week Social Club – and a little North(west) of usual.

His most important job? Being a father to a toddler boy with endless energy, an infant girl and husband to a woman who clearly is among the most patient on the planet.

During the day, Doug is the community director for the Advertising Week Social Club and does various creative, marketing and social projects for a roster that includes clients from New York, San Francisco and Portland.

During this 17-year creative path, Doug has taken home some decent hardware, been a jury president for the London International Advertising Awards, on the Radio Mercury Awards and New York Festivals juries among others.

One of Doug’s greatest professional joys is doing voice work. He has contributed his pipes to a wide-range of clients including Starwood, Jiffy Lube, Nike, Kroeger, the Port of Portland and more. He donates 5% of his talent fees to Caldera, an arts organization based in Portland.

Another great professional adventure is teaching. Doug was an adjunct at Mt. Hood Commuinity College and the Univeristy of Oregon.

A native of Minnesota, Doug spent his high school years in suburban Philadelphia, his college days in Denver (and London) and has called Portland home for the past 20 years.

He is a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, apologizes in advance for that fact and won a trip to Florida kicking a field goal at halftime of an Eagles game in 1985.

He also tried out for the Portland Timbers in 2010 — and scored a goal in one of the training games – the legend of which continues to grow. It was spectacular.
