Here I am, just another girl ready to prove what’s possible.
My name is Julia Luisa Ortinez-Hansen and my whole name can be one sentence.
I am a first generation American, but was only really born in the States, as my mom ran me all the way to Yangon, Myanmar, where we lived for five years. She then transported my sister and I to Johannesburg, South Africa, where we lived for another five years and graduated from high school.
And if you were wondering, yes – my mom is a superhero.
I have slowly become accustomed to American ways such as buying my food, driving cars, and using the Internet. In these developmental stages I have come to adore my new life.
I came to the University of Oregon in search of the typical American college experience.
I wanted football, a big school, some town and parties. I am in my junior year of college, pursuing a degree in Journalism with a double focus in Advertising and Communication, and I am obsessed with them both. Other obsessions are Pinterest, coloring, tickling, exercising, cooking and eating, the beach, exploring, fashion, and list making.
I can’t wait to dip my toes into the Advertising world and truly make a difference. As I always say, “Nothing worth having comes easy.”
Bring it on baby!
